Experienced Tax Associate
About the Role
Our Tax Services team delivers comprehensive federal and state tax compliance and planning services to a diverse client base including corporations, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals. As a Tax Associate, you’ll gain hands-on experience with complex tax matters while building foundational expertise that will accelerate your career in public accounting.

Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Preparation
- Prepare federal and state tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals across diverse industries and complexity levels
- Conduct thorough reconciliations of book-to-tax income differences, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations
- Analyse and optimize depreciation methods to maximize client tax benefits while maintaining compliance
- Research complex tax issues using professional resources and technical guidance
Client Advisory & Planning
- Assist in strategic tax planning initiatives and projection development for clients
- Provide timely communication to all engagement team members and appropriate client personnel
- Support senior staff in developing tax-efficient strategies for client business objectives
- Contribute to client meetings and presentations as appropriate to role level
Professional Development & Growth
- Pursue CPA certification with dedicated effort and utilize firm resources for exam preparation
- Maintain current knowledge of professional pronouncements and tax law changes
- Meet annual CPE requirements and participate in continuing education opportunities
- Actively engage in technical training and professional development programs
Firm Representation & Culture
- Act as a positive representative of ACGDEPT in all client and professional interactions
- Support recruitment efforts by identifying and referring qualified candidates
- Contribute to team culture and participate in firm initiatives and activities
- Maintain professional standards and ethical conduct in all business activities
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Must have completed at least one “Busy Season” in public accounting or similar tax-focused environment
- Demonstrated commitment to pursuing CPA certification
Communication & Technical Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities across all organizational levels, both internally and externally
- Proficiency with applicable technology platforms and tax software applications
- Ability to travel based on client and business needs
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Education
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field strongly preferred
- Additional coursework in advanced taxation or specialized tax areas
Professional Development
- Progress toward CPA certification with completed exam sections
- Relevant internship or work experience in tax preparation or compliance
- Familiarity with professional tax research tools and databases
