Job Overview
As a Tax Senior Manager specializing in Construction and Real Estate at Local Outsourced Accounting (ACGDEPT), you will lead tax compliance, consulting, and planning services for a diverse portfolio of construction and real estate clients, including contractors, developers, investors, and property managers. You will oversee complex engagements, provide strategic tax advice, and play a key role in business development and client relationship management. Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage tax compliance and consulting engagements for construction and real estate clients, including partnerships, corporations, and individuals.
- Review and sign off on complex federal, state, and local tax returns related to construction projects, real estate transactions, and holdings.
- Advise clients on tax implications of construction contracts, real estate acquisitions and dispositions, like-kind exchanges, cost segregation studies, and partnership allocations.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and develop strategies to minimize tax liabilities for clients in the construction and real estate sectors.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact.
- Assist with IRS and state tax audits, notices, and correspondence related to construction and real estate matters.
- Stay current on tax law changes, industry trends, and best practices relevant to construction and real estate.
- Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s in Taxation or JD/LLM preferred.
- CPA license required.
- 8+ years of relevant tax experience, with significant focus on construction and real estate clients, preferably in public accounting.
- In-depth knowledge of construction and real estate tax issues, including partnership taxation, 1031 exchanges, cost segregation, and contract accounting.
- Proven experience managing and developing teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client service skills.
- Proficiency with tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
