Payroll Tax Specialist
Job Overview
As a Payroll Tax Specialist at Local Outsourced Accounting (ACGDEPT), you will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll tax compliance for our diverse client base. You will ensure accurate and timely filing of federal, state, and local payroll tax returns, resolve tax issues, and provide expert support to clients and internal teams. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong payroll tax knowledge and a commitment to excellent client service.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and file federal, state, and local payroll tax returns for multiple clients.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of payroll taxes and compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Research and resolve payroll tax notices, discrepancies, and issues with tax agencies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll tax laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Reconcile payroll tax accounts and assist with year-end processes, including W-2 and 1099 filings.
- Respond to client inquiries regarding payroll tax matters and provide clear, professional guidance.
- Collaborate with internal accounting and payroll teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Assist with payroll tax audits and provide necessary documentation to tax authorities.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all payroll tax activities.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in payroll tax compliance, preferably in a public accounting or outsourced payroll environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Experience with payroll and accounting software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data security.
