Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
We are a dynamic and growing outsourced accounting firm dedicated to delivering expert financial services to small and mid-sized businesses. Our firm supports clients across various industries with solutions that include bookkeeping, financial reporting, payroll, and strategic financial planning. We are seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our internal financial operations and guide strategic client financial engagements.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee all financial functions of the firm, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, risk management, and compliance. In addition to managing our internal finances, the CFO will play a key role in shaping high-level financial strategies for our clients, ensuring we deliver maximum value through our outsourced services.
This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role for a finance professional with deep knowledge of accounting standards, financial planning, and client advisory services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Internal (Firm-Facing):

Lead the development and execution of financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals.

Oversee internal accounting team performance, policies, and workflow optimization.

Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.

Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other legal requirements.

Collaborate with department heads to support operational and financial efficiency.

Present accurate financial reports and insights to the CEO and board.

Guide the adoption of accounting technology tools and automation processes.
Client-Facing:

Support client onboarding by evaluating financial health and designing tailored financial processes.

Review and oversee the accuracy of outsourced client deliverables (e.g., monthly financials, dashboards).

Serve as a fractional CFO for key clients, offering strategic financial guidance, budgeting, and scenario planning.

Advise clients on business planning, funding strategies, and financial risk.

Train and mentor team members on delivering high-quality, value-driven client services.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Credentials:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)

CPA, CMA, or MBA (strongly preferred)
Experience:
-
5+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in outsourced accounting, advisory, or professional services

Proven track record in leading finance teams, implementing financial systems, and guiding business strategy

Experience providing CFO-level services to small/mid-sized businesses a major plus
-
Strong understanding of financial software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, Fathom, Gusto, BILL)
